NATE SMITH

Nate Smith began his film criticism journey in 2022 on Letterboxd before launching his website, Nate at the Movies, in March 2025. By day, he teaches elementary music in Fort Worth, but film and storytelling have long been great passions. Nate gravitates toward animated films and musicals, bringing an earnest enthusiasm and a dedicated voice to championing animation in all its forms. To Nate, the best films are the magical ones—the stories that shimmer, move, and make the world feel bigger than it did before. He’s proud to join the North Texas film critic community and continue sharpening his craft, one thoughtful review at a time.

Originally from San Antonio, Nate earned his B.M.E. in Music Education from the University of North Texas before relocating to Fort Worth, where he lives with his wife, Morgan, and their dog, Stanley.
